The nearest large towns are Barnstaple and Bideford – well known for their twice weekly pannier markets selling fresh local produce, flowers, baskets, books, small antiques,
WI local crafts and much more. There is an extensive cycle/walking path known as the “Tarka Trail” which follows the old railway line from Barnstaple to Bideford and beyond. There are excellent beaches and surfing at Saunton Sands,
Croyde and Woolacombe bay. Riding (outside Bideford) and tennis (at the new
indoor and outdoor courts in Barnstaple), and lots more.
